The photographs have had no filter added. Like any artwork the lighting has a large impact on their appearance. The don’t require white light from above, in fact, in subdued light with partial illumination they also come alive. I find at night where part of the painting is hit with light they become almost animate and more ephemeral. In full bright white “gallery” lighting the colour energy is intense, intentionally, almost overwhelming due to the high levels of pure pigment in the paints. They transmit their Energy, yet they also have a beautiful textile quality due to the heavyweight canvas they have been painted on. They also have a vast richness in the minutae, again reflecting a sense of infinite scale and complexity.
